This has been a long process, with some ambiguity as we've gone along, but I am happy to say that we have now identified a specific trail as the "Rondy Trail." It goes from Horseshoe Lake to the Pacific Crest Trail. It is meaningful because Rondy loved it so much. Even after he retired, he returned yearly to hike and maintain it, as well as keeping up with his friends "Hail, Blael." I would love to post the map the Forest Service sent me, but I have to admit that can't get it to work. It is a .jpeg, but won't load.
Over the Winter, we will pull together a Power Point presentation about why this trail should be re-named Rondy Trail. If any readers of this blog have specifics that should be included...let me know. I am particularly interested in specific descriptions of work done with Rondy on trails during his career. My email is carolynrondthaler@gmail.com Phone is 503-246-3655.
I think the Forest Service knows this is the right thing to do....but we just need to make it happen.
